The opposition Smer party thrashed its right wing opponents in municipal elections over the weekend. Smer mayoral candidates were elected in five out of eight regional capitals, including even Bratislava, which has been a conservative bastion since 1989.

Elderly patients in Slovak geriatrics wards frequently suffer from neglect. In some state hospital wards, more than two-thirds of patients suffer from serious bedsores, in some cases dying after muscle and bone tissue become infected.

After weeks of uncertainty, the parties of the ruling coalition have finally agreed on a common candidate for the post of general prosecutor , who will be elected in a secret ballot in parliament on December 2.

And according to a recent survey, more than half of Slovaks are dissatisfied with their sex lives, even though they claim to be doing things their parents wouldn’t have dreamed of, or at least wouldn’t have admitted to.
